Have you used a Europeana resource in class or in a non-formal education setting? Add this activity to the Digital Cultural Heritage Story map and tell the world about it!

The Europeana micro-Story of Implementation

Through the Europeana micro-Story of Implementation, you can briefly present the use of Europeana resources in an educational setting and the main outcomes of this implementation. You can find Europeana resources either on the Europeana platform or the Teaching with Europeana blog.

Have you presented a picture of Sir Alexander Fleming in his laboratory to start a lesson on penicillin and its chemical structure? Did you ask your students to read a blog post about the Paralympic Games and make a collage with information about them? Or did you find an interesting activity, part of a learning scenario or a Story of Implementation from the Teaching with Europeana blog and you implemented it in your educational practice? Tell us about it!

How to submit the activity

Fill in the form providing more information about the activity you implemented and the Europeana resources you used: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/submit-your-micro-SoI.

In a few days, you will see a specific pin on the Digital Cultural Heritage Story map with your micro-Story!

Moreover, you will get a Certificate of contribution over the course of August-September 2024.

What resources can I use and share through my Micro-Story of Implementation?

You can either use resources from the Teaching with Europeana blog, i.e., implement an activity from a learning scenario that includes Europeana items or go directly to the Europeana.eu platform and use some of the million objects found there.

  • In the case of items from the Europeana platform, you can use and share through your micro-Story only those with open licenses, i.e., they have a CC license or they are in the public domain. You can find these items by using the filter “Can I use this?” and then selecting “Yes”.
  • In the case of Europeana editorials, such as galleries, blog posts and exhibitions, you should take into consideration that they may contain objects in copyright. Please remember that to creatively reuse these specific items (e.g., download and paste them in any format, physically display or transform them in any way for a project) out of the school’s premises you will need permission from the authors or the providing institution.

The Europeana Micro-Stories challenge

Running from December 2023 to April 2024, the Europeana Micro-Stories challenge invites educators to submit micro-Stories of Implementation of good quality.

The five educators who submit the highest number of micro-Stories of good quality by the 30th of April 2024 will be invited to participate in the Europeana workshop, which will be held in Brussels, at EUN premises, in summer 2024, with travel and accommodation expenses covered.
